Cooperative Member Spotlight: Sam Sipiorski

As we celebrate October Cooperative Month, we’re shining a spotlight on the heart of GENEX – our members. Each of our members plays a vital role in driving innovation and success in the dairy and beef industries, and we’re proud to highlight their dedication and hard work. This month, we’re excited to share the stories behind the farms that make our cooperative strong, showcase the unique contributions of our members, and highlight how GENEX has partnered with them on their journey.

Join us as we celebrate the power of cooperation and the inspiring individuals behind it!

Sam Sipiorski

Sipiorski Farm, Denmark, Wisconsin

Tell us about your farm:
We are a fourth-generation dairy farm located in Denmark, Wisconsin, milking 94 cows in a parlor and freestall setup. Along with the cows, we run 250 acres of corn and alfalfa for the dairy.

How long have you been a co-op member of GENEX?
We have been a member of GENEX since before it was GENEX, back when the cooperative was known as 21st Century Genetics.

What do you like about being part of a cooperative?
I like having a voice in the co-op’s future and a more transparent knowledge of the company.

What are your favorite GENEX products or services?

How has GENEX supported your farm’s goals or ambitions over the years?
Amazing A.I. technicians help our farm achieve a very good breeding success rate. Keeping services per conception low per cow is huge on any dairy and can provide nice cost savings over the year.

What advice would you give to a producer considering joining GENEX?
Look at everything GENEX lets their farmers be a part of along with the genetic inputs, programs that they offer and their herd care products, as they are great tools to have at your disposal. Also consider exploring their sister companies. Through GENEX, you might be able to fill some holes in your operation.

How does being a member of GENEX benefit your farm’s long-term sustainability or profitability?
Being a member means having my voice heard to address my concerns—or those of others—about industry issues. It’s also provides the opportunity to talk directly to the faces of GENEX and learn about what they are seeing from their perspective, as well as areas where the cooperative can expand and grow.

What roles do genetics and reproductive solutions play in the success of your business?
It’s huge. Without it, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are, as it impacts the entire business model of the farm. Without great genetics and reproductive solutions, we couldn’t get each cow bred back as timely as needed, or pair her genetics with a great GENEX bull to ensure the next generation is even more successful for our farm’s future.
